FOLLOW UP REPORT

75th art auction on the 13th and 14th of October 2009
With a turnover of more than 3.1 Million Euros a remarkable success could be celebrated by im Kinsky with paintings of old masters, from the 19th century, of classic modernism and of contemporary art.
The highest bid obtained very good 62.4% of the estimated price. A drop of bitterness is the sales rate of 46%: especially in respect of the relation between the sums of the highest bid and the estimated price, it clearly shows that currently high quality gains high prices, but that the less unique often fails.

75th Auction

Press Release
One of the most extensive offers of all times is presented by im Kinsky at its auction on the 13th & 14th of October 2009: Almost 1.200 paintings by old masters, paintings from the 19th century, oeuvres of classic modernism and contemporary art as well as antiques sum up to an estimated value between almost 5 and 8 Million Euros.
The extraordinary great size is own to the legacy of an art dealer, here again an extraordinary high sales quote is strived by extremely low starting prices. The auction sale of D & S Antiques in May has shown that, under these preconditions, the success is almost a forgone conclusion – even during the “crisis”.

MID-YEAR REVIEW 2009

Record turnover during crisis
During the first half year 2008 the world still seemed in order. Im Kinsky Kunst Auktionen euphemistically announced an increase in the mid-year turnover to a record high of €12.45 Mio. In autumn things changed drastically: The insolvency of the Lehman Brothers Bank and the collapse of the American property market led to the imbalance of the entire financial sector and to an economic crisis, which affected the entire world. The art market was not spared from these turbulences either.

Rubens and Van Dyck im Kinsky:

73rd Art Auction
In October 2004 im Kinsky Art Auctions offered a portrait of a Dutch merchant. For decades this painting had been regarded as a genuine Frans Hals. However, in the current catalogue by Prof. Seymour Slive it is no longer adjudged to be authentic, but a work by artists from the painter's circle. As a consequence it was described and evaluated by im Kinsky with due caution.
